We live in a timeline where digitization has taken over most of our daily routines and the internet is rapidly moving to Web3. One of the biggest developments in this area is the metaverse.

More than just a buzzword, the metaverse is a space that includes AR, VR, and 3D virtual worlds or “augmented reality” (XR) to foster social connections. KPMG even predicts that people will spend more time in the metaverse than in the real world by 2030.

“People will apply for jobs, earn a living, meet friends, shop, even get married using the metaverse’s virtual capabilities,” the report said.

But to create a viable ecosystem for this reality, it needs to be built by real people. Thus, the International XRskills Asia Summit (XRskills) was born, a conference put together by Cuberlab.

Target? To nurture young talent in filling workforce gaps in metaverse related industries like gaming, programming, 3D animation, etc.

In a nutshell, Cuberlab is a professional coaching and training service on emerging global technology such as AR, VR, Internet of Things (IoT), along with robotics and automation.

Educator Education

Kenny Lim, Head of Technology and Role-Playing Games at Cuberlab shared that this summit wanted to highlight industry-academic exchanges to initiate collaboration in immersive technology.

In order for us to see developments in reverse, stakeholders with a direct impact on future skilled talent need to be able to educate them about future opportunities that exist outside of industries. the wall of their school.

Therefore, XRSkills intends to welcome higher caliber people such as university deans, academics and program heads, along with policymakers and government agencies to the conference.

Of course, students themselves who are interested in metaverse-related technologies are also welcome to participate.

This will indirectly bring together academics and educators to identify problems and close skills gaps in the following industry talent ecosystem.

Long-lasting results

The XR, gaming and supermarket industries are constantly making advancements. Individuals who want a career in this field need to have a solid programming background, passion and time to have a chance to land the required position, says Kenny.

To ensure fresh graduates are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills, the summit will host Malaysian and ASEAN Web3 speakers to train educators.

The lineup will include some influential names in the mixed reality space such as:

Lasting all day from 9:10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., the summit will cover topics including “Higher education needs to catch up with industry”, “The Skilled Talent Gap” WITH. skills shortage in Asia” and “What is and why reverse change? “.

Ultimately, one of the ultimate goals of this conference is to diagnose and perform effective upskilling or retraining for educators and students in metaverse-related developments.

Ensuring that the lessons from the conference will remain lifelong skills development, Cuberlab also organizes workshops on topics of AR and VR design, game development, etc.
