Court documents detail Kel Mitchell’s efforts to reconnect with his children

Kel Mitchell has yet to respond publicly to his daughter’s recent statements of absence and abandonment. But the court documents obtained by Shade room seems to paint a different story about the actor’s parenting efforts.
As previously reported, Charming Mitchell recently alleged on TikTok that Kel prioritized his acting career over his relationship with her. She said that her father reminded her that he “not an ordinary father” with one “9-5” and that “the phone works both ways” in previous conversations.

In the caption that follows, Allure details Mitchell’s alleged limited involvement in her life over the past decade. She said the actor is “fake man” was in her life but he was only there financially – and to an extent.
According to her timeline, Mitchell left her life when she was 5 years old and was absent for ten years before reconnecting when she was 15.
Court documents detail Kelley and his children’s reunion therapy session in 2012
Now, court documents show that Mitchell has attended reunification therapy with his children, ex-wife Tyisha Hampton and therapist Susan Ralston in 2012. The couple previously ended their relationship in 2005 after getting married in 1999.
2012 was supposed to be the first time Kel Mitchell saw her children, Allure and brother Lyric, in six years. However, court documents say the father actively tried to get visitation rights for several years after the split.
About three weeks after the unified treatment, in November 2012, Kel described “emotion” at trial–according to court minutes.
“Yes. it really is [emotional]. Not seeing them for six years and finally being able to see them, and my son…so sad, and he’s hurt,” Kel told the judge. “So is my daughter. They will look straight out the window, not at me. And they say we don’t want to see you, we have a father.
Kel added:
“Even so, they seem to have been very well rehearsed. And I told them that I had been trying to see them for years without talking about their mother, telling them I loved them, and my number is here if you want to contact me. Here it is. And I’m here for you, and I love you, and you may not feel the same way later.”
In court in November 2012, Kel’s attorney accused Hampton of doing “what does she want to do” without consequences, including day absent from court.
His lawyer told the judge:
“She’s not here today. We’ve been here many times and she doesn’t show up. She came up with every excuse not to get involved in the process.
The following year, in June 2013, Kel sent a message to fathers who were unable to be with their children due to marital or relationship problems. He talks about his seven-year custody battle with Hampton, his reunion therapy, and staying true to his beliefs.
In June 2015, Mitchell updated his visitation status with the children.
“I am happy to say right now, in the name of Jesus, I am happy to say that I have met my children and that my children have returned to my life.”
He revealed that it was “beautiful…beautiful” to see them “weekly.”
Here’s What Kel Mitchell’s Daughter Alleged About Her Father’s Involvement In Her Life
Despite Mitchell’s happy and lucky demeanor in the 2015 video, Allure says his presence has been limited.
“He was there financially. What I mean is that he only pays for what, in my eyes, looks good on paper. He helped pay for my first car, my high school tuition, and my housing on campus until I severed my contract with him for exactly this.”
She added:
“Now I live completely on my own without any help from my parents. I did this to prove to my father that his money was never what I needed, and growing up [the] the way that i have to annoy me [he] I even think that’s what I care about. But then I have to remember that he doesn’t even know me, how could he? He’s not there. A father should also be there emotionally. A father should be there for their daughters to help, a father should provide, a father should simply care.”
Allure also claimed that she was homeless in college but Kel made no attempt to open his door for her. Instead, he found her a dormitory on campus. And though she appreciates the act, Allure says what she needs is her father. She also alleges that he refused to take her health insurance for fear Hampton would use it.
Allure wrote:
“He lived in the fantasy world that my mother was ‘going out to pick him up.’ No, she’s out to take what’s owed her. I owe my mother a lot. While you have to live your best life for ten years without us, build your career, sell the house your ex-wife and kids live in. That very house was actually bought with the help of my grandparents. I went through unimaginable levels of abuse because of this, I never really got the chance to show [be] a child.”
In an additional series of videos, Allure also said she was “relentless” to make the effort and drive long distances to visit her father.
