Conor Gallagher: West Ham bid £40m for the English and Chelsea midfielder | Transfer Center

West Ham have made a £40m bid for Chelsea and England midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Gallagher has two years left on his contract and it is believed Chelsea will be open to an extension.

Any potential departures will likely be driven by Gallagher himself.

The English midfielder is traveling with Chelsea in the US and scored in Sunday’s win over Brighton. For now, boss Mauricio Pochettino is planning for him to be part of the team next season.

Sky Sports News understand that Chelsea value him more than £40m.

Gallagher is one of a number of central defenders West Ham are eyeing following the departure of Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105m.

The Hammers have been rejected by Fulham with a £45m bid for Joao Palhinha, and remain interested in Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse, Juventus’ Denis Zakaria and Ajax’s Edson Alvarez.

West Ham are among the clubs monitoring the Maguire situation

Harry Maguire is being closely watched by clubs in the Premier League and abroad, with West Ham being among those interested in the England international.

The Hammers are said to be considering loan options or a permanent deal for the 30-year-old defender, who was recently told he will no longer be Manchester United captain and could look to move elsewhere.

However, they are aware wages could be an issue if an agreement is agreed between the clubs.
