Watch maker Citizen has launched the CZ Smartwatch with proprietary wellness software that predicts, learns, and becomes smarter for the wearer.
CZ Smart YouQ forecasts 24 hours in advance to help the wearer prolong peak time and limit alertness. It leverages AI models and NASA science built using IBM Watson studio to deliver personalized actions to optimize wearers’ health.
Citizen made the announcement at the CES 2023 technology trade show in Las Vegas. It’s interesting to see a 100-year-old watch company push the wearables space as a startup.
CZ Smart YouQ software helps wearers understand and predict fatigue and alertness patterns. It provides customized insights and personalized strategies to build better habits to maximize the wearer’s daily potential. The company says the CZ smartwatch combines watch design, purposeful functionality and cutting-edge technology in a game-changing wearable.
Using biofeedback and neural network research developed in the IBM Watson Studio workspace, CZ Smart YouQ is able to learn and understand the wearer’s time pattern (preferred sleep and wake times). an individual) within seven to ten days by processing their sleep data and Alert Scores. It deepens that understanding over time.
Alert Scores are generated when the wearer takes the custom-designed Warning Monitor test, a consumer-facing iteration of the NASA Psychomotor Vigilance Mission Test (PVT+), was originally developed to determine the mental acuity of astronauts. The CZ Smart YouQ warning screen is designed based on NASA’s PVT+ testing and uses research from leading academic and scientific experts at the Ames Research Center Fatigue Response Lab. NASA. The Alert Monitor tests are brief, gamified, and can be performed daily to measure the wearer’s level of alertness.
The watch collects individual data points recorded by the watch, including Alert Score, time pattern, sleep pattern, activity, and heart rate monitoring. Then, CZ Smart YouQ quantitatively analyzes and learns about the wearer’s unique characteristics, rhythms, and habits to enhance personalization.
By using a dynamic recognition model to match the wearer to their time pattern, the CZ Smart YouQ app recommends highly personalized Energy Fixes, suggested actions to help the wearer reduce Minimizes the effects of fatigue, improves alertness and promotes better habit building, readying the wearer to respond to whatever the day may bring.
Over time, aggregation of wearer data will allow CZ Smart YouQ to serve wearers more personally; not only in understanding them and their relationship to time patterns, but also in understanding the effect certain Power Fixes have on each person.
“The latest CZ smartwatch is a game changer, bringing Citzen’s watchmaking heritage along with the best of NASA and IBM research and technology, directly to the wearer’s wrist.” Jeffrey Cohen, President of Citizen Watch America, said. in a statement. “Along with the exclusive CZ Smart YouQ app, this smartwatch is a revolution in wearable health.”
YouQ software is only available on the second generation of CZ Smart watches. Styles include a sporty model, available with silicone, leather, and stainless steel bracelets, and a casual model in a mesh bracelet, stainless steel chain link, and silicone strap. All Citizen CZ smartwatches offer downloadable, customizable dials and a variety of interchangeable bracelets, meshes, leathers, and silicone bands to match practicality and style preferences.
Citizen also highlighted a new second-generation hybrid smartwatch at CES 2023, which will launch to consumers in the second half of 2023, with the YouQ wellness software to be rolled out on time (date to be confirmed). . It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear4100+ processor.
Citizen launched the first generation of CZ Smart watches in November 2020 with the brand’s first touchscreen smartwatch, followed by a hybrid model in fall 2021. The latest with the exclusive CZ Smart YouQ app will be available in the US at www.citizenwatch.com starting March 2023.
