After establishing the definition of colorism, Candiace Dillard Bassett spoke of how she, as a darker-skinned Black woman, was quickly labeled “the first to get emotional” when she showed while Robyn Dixon was able to get away with the same reactive behavior.

In response, Gizelle joined the conversation and expressed her confusion at Candace’s point of view.

“How do you connect the two?…What does feeling emotional have to do with skin color?”

She quickly added, “I just want to understand.”

Karen Huger then shared Candiace’s feeling as if “she was judged more harshly” because of “her skin pigmentation”.

Ashley Darby and Mia Thornton later went on to express their feelings, with the former acknowledging how light-skinned actors “are favored”.

“Originally, for me, Gizelle, Robyn, Mia, we were privileged. I understand that—I acknowledge the privilege of being a light-skinned woman.”

After the discussion, Gizelle commented: “We’ve been high, now let’s go low.”

Carlos King lashed out at Gizelle: ‘How disrespectful is that to your ancestors?’

After the episode aired, viewers took to Twitter and expressed that they felt as if the self-proclaimed “Blue-Eyed Bandit” was a bit too indifferent in the racist segment.

Carlos King also shared his critiques in a YouTube video and previously The Real Housewives of Atlanta manufacturer did not hold back!

In a clip shared on social media, Carlos said he was “very angry” and “disappointed” at how brief the colorism segment was.

“What I see on display tonight are bulls. How dare you sit here and bring up the topic of colorism for 2 minutes to an all-Black female cast.”

Later in his video, he honed on Gizelle’s polite style throughout the conversation.

“I was so disgusted, frustrated and Gizelle, how dare you say, ‘Okay, we can finally move on.’ You are [daughter] of a civil rights activist.”

He then went on to ask, “That’s disrespectful, Gizelle, isn’t that for your ancestors?”
