Canucks ends embarrassing story, finally announces coach change

Vancouver Canucks announced on sunday that they fired head coach Bruce Boudreau and replaced him with Rick Tocchet.
Tocchet has worked as an NHL analyst on TNT TV shows.
It ends an awkward and embarrassing saga of the past few weeks when it became clear that the Canucks would fire Boudreau without actually firing him. Group President Jim Rutherford admitted a week ago that he was talking to potential replacements, while in Vancouver it was widely reported that Boudreau would be fired sometime this week.
It led to an emotional week of press conferences for Boudreau that brought him to tears several times.
Canucks fans were really unhappy with the way the organizations treated Boudreau, and spent his last two home games cheering “Bruce, it’s here!” in the game. That continued after Boudreau’s final game on Saturday night
