Benjamin Mendy: Man City defender denies lying to ‘save his skin’ before rape allegations | Football news

Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has denied lying to “save his own skin” about the alleged rape and sexual assault of a series of women.

The 28-year-old Premier League player led a partying lifestyle, having sex with women “within seconds and minutes” of meeting them, Chester Crown Court said.

According to prosecutors, Mendy was allegedly a “predator” who turned the pursuit of women for sex into a game, prosecutors allege, regularly going clubbing in Manchester before when he held a “party after party” where young women were invited back to him.
Cheshire Mansion and was sexually assaulted.

He denied raping and sexually assaulting six women and told the jury that all sex was always favorable.

Mendy, sitting in the witness box with a French interpreter beside him, Timothy Cray KC, the prosecutor, began to cross-examine the defendant.

Mendy said that, after being arrested for rape, he had time to think in prison and realized his life was going “bad” and the way he had sex with multiple women was bad for him and can “upset” women.

Mr. Cray said: “That’s a problem for you. Within seconds, minutes, of meeting some women you know nothing about, you’re having sex with them.

“You’ve had sex with women without any contraception. You’re having sex with women your partner has recently had or is about to have sex with.

“But the furthest place you’re willing to go, in terms of hurt, is all you’ve done is hurt some women’s feelings?”

Mendy replied, “Now I realize, yes.”

“Help us with this,” Mr. Cray continued. “Is there something any of them say that makes you think, ‘You know what, I could have been really wrong some of these behaviors of mine are really wrong?’

“When we listen to what women have to say, do you have this thought: ‘Maybe I should think harder to see if they really agree?”

Mendy replied, “It’s all consensual.”

Mr. Cray continued: “In your case, there is no room for error or misunderstanding with what you are doing with the six women. They were completely wrong.

“Or, are you completely wrong and you are lying? Are you lying to save your own skin?”

“No,” Mendy replied.

Mendy denied that he might not have made the “right decisions” or misjudged things while drunk.

Mr Cray then showed the jury a CCTV video clip taken from Mendy’s home in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire.

Recorded at 4:42 a.m. on August 23 last year, it shows Mendy returning from the club in Manchester for an after-party at his mansion, where he was later accused raped a 17-year-old girl, who also returned to his house.

In the clip, Mendy is seen stumbling around a Range Rover, featuring Manchester City team-mate Jack Grealish, his trousers low over his back and a headscarf.

Mr Cray continued: “Are you wearing a scarf of some sort? You can’t even walk straight. When you are like that, you disagree, you can make mistakes, such as being a girl. Do girls want you or not?”

“No,” Mendy replied.

The jury heard that shortly after arriving home, his accomplice Louis Saha Matturie left with a 23-year-old girl to buy £150 of alcohol from a local garage to take to the party.

On his way back, he allegedly raped the 23-year-old in his car.

Mendy also later had consensual sex with the same woman after he allegedly raped the 17-year-old girl in the office and gallery of his home, where Mr. discovered sleeping by other partygoers, the court heard.

Mr Cray continued: “I asked you from the start: do you think, with this much alcohol, having sex with girls you’ve never met could just be a dangerous territory where you Could it be wrong about what they really want?”

“No,” replied the defendant.

Mendy denies seven counts of rape, one count of attempted rape and one count of sexually assaulting six women.

Matturie, 41, of Eccles, Salford, denies six counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault involving seven young women.

The trial was adjourned until Wednesday.
