Banijay closes deal to buy Australia’s Beyond International – The Hollywood Reporter


Production giant Banijay on Wednesday signed a Deed of Execution Plan to acquire Beyond International Limited, the scripted and unscripted production company behind shows like Discovery Channel’s legendHulu’s new dating series Back in Grooveand an 8-part series of scenarios Tropicco-produced with EQ Media, airing on ABC Australia and on Freevee in the US.

Beyond has been publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange since 1987, but once this deal is done, the group will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Banijay and be withdrawn from the market.

The deal adds Beyond’s 8,000+ hours of programming hours to titles like Highway through hell, Heavy Rescue: 401and Halifax: retributionto Banijay’s vast library of about 130,000 hours.

Banijay CEO Marco Bassetti said: “As demand for content continues to soar, category remains key, and with the acquisition of Beyond, we will significantly increase our offering. . “[This] The deal can strengthen our position as a premier destination for our customers and trading partners.”

Beyond International Limited’s CEO and Managing Director, Mikael Borglund will continue in his current role after taking over.

Execution of the deal is still subject to a number of conditions including approval of Beyond shareholders as well as court and antitrust approval. Banijay expects to close the deal in late 2022 or early 2023.

Banijay controls more than 120 manufacturing companies across 22 territories and represents brands such as survivor, Oldest brother, Top notch blindand Super Chef globally.
