At least 29 people were killed in the arrest of the son of drug lord El Chapo, Mexico says

Mexico City:
Defense Secretary Luis Cresencio Sandoval said 19 suspected gang members and 10 service members were killed in the events surrounding the arrest of Mexican drug cartel leader Ovidio Guzman in the northern state of Sinaloa.
Mexican security forces on Thursday arrested Guzman, son of drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, sparking a wave of violence across Sinaloa.
Mr. Sandoval told a regular news conference that another 21 people had been arrested during the operations. He said there were no reports of civilian deaths.
Authorities said the airport in Sinaloa’s capital Culiacan, the epicenter of the violence, remained closed on Friday.
According to the government, Ovidio is currently being held in a maximum security federal prison.
