Two Grizzly Memphis was thrown Wednesday night. Anthony Edwards was there to cheer and encourage them.
Dillon Brooks and Ja Morant were both kicked out at the end Minnesota Timberwolves‘ 109-101 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Edwards is personally responsible for Brooks’ exit. First, Brooks hit Edwards in the face, and the players got into a double technical fight after shouting at each other.
Edwards responded with two driving stunts on Brooks sandwiched around a back alley towards Rudy Gobert as Brooks attempted to recover.
When Brooks fouled Edwards on his next drive up the ring, Brooks suffered enough. He harassed officials to the point where he fouled a second technical foul and was disqualified, while Edwards stood at the free-throw line encouraging the rowdy crowd as Brooks left.
Later, Ja Morant was also sent off for the controversy, and he took some time to punch Edwards on his way out of court.
Edwards had 17 points in the fourth quarter, with eight points and an assist after Brooks’ shot in the face. It’s another chapter in the growing Grizzlies-Timberwolves rivalry that began with last year’s tough first series. Edwards and Morant seem like friendly opponents, as seen when Ja’s dad congratulated Edwards after Game 4 last spring.
With Brooks, it’s a less friendly rivalry. Edwards won this round, but these teams feel like destiny will meet again in April.
