Mobile World Congress, The annual trade show, mainly dedicated to the mobile media industry, has returned to Barcelona. Although not the first year of MWC since the pandemic began (it is now officially called MWCmaybe because Mobile World Congress sounds interesting as a legislative body), 2023 was the first year with the really bustling halls we remember from 2019 and earlier.
What was announced there? It’s true that manufacturers have gotten into the habit of revealing their flagship devices at their own events—but there’s still plenty of new tech to showcase at MWC 2023. Here are a few highlights. .

Prove that “mobile” does not mean mobile phoneLenovo announced a bunch of refreshes of the great, if guaranteed to be expensive, ThinkPad lines at MWC 2023.
The ThinkPad X13 Gen 4 has a new generation Intel Core I-series processor and, as senior product manager Matej Misturik explains, one of the heatsink vents has been moved to the rear. This prevents laptop from overheating if the underside is blocked.
Lighter weight and OLED panels bring a little shine to 2023 for one of the most respected line of business laptops.
Want a clearer shine? Lenovo The Thinkpad Z13 Gen 2 series flips the order of precedence, being a premium ultraportable with ThinkPad elements. At first glance, not much has changed here except for the use of AMD 7000 series processors.
However, sense tells us its tactile trackpad that replaces the Thinkpad Z13 Gen 1’s touchpad has a rather hazy feel. “Lenovo was not happy with their solution, for a variety of reasons, so we were able to go with Gen 2,” said Mark Rosenberg of Sensel. “You want a sharp click that comes out and fades away very quickly, to simulate closer to a mechanical button—otherwise it will have an unpleasant, buzzing feel and sound.”
