there’s a reason Why pizza is a menu choice for picky preschoolers, hungry teens and foodies alike. With enough cheese, ketchup, and arugula, homemade pizza is a complete meal. They’re irresistible, easy to make, and customizable for a variety of dietary preferences.
Until recently, an aspiring pizza maker had no choice but to crank up the oven in their kitchen to the standard 450 degrees F. Now, the best outdoor pizza ovens can heat up to 900 degrees—the perfect temperature to make a crispy Neapolitan pizza in minutes. You also don’t have to limit yourself to pizza; I had grilled steak and sautéed broccoli. These are my favorites — and my waistline —. For those with limited access to outdoor space, I’ve included an indoor option and a suitable oven on a small deck, balcony or patio.
Update June 2023: We’ve added Ooni Volt and Yoder Smoker Oven, added an honorable mention slide, and added some toppings that we like.
