The sheriff’s office said they were found dead near a bridge on 660th Street, near Tucson Road. Pitbull, and Pepper, 3 years old in the black lab, have been missing since July 27. “Bella loves cuddling – that’s her biggest thing,” says owner Logan Lank. “Pepper is really good. Obedient. Like a sister to Bella.” Lank said they are desperate to find out what happened to their dogs after they went missing. “They were found with their feet tied, shot in the back of the head and thrown over a bridge,” Lank said. The bridge was just two miles from Logan’s house. “You could have said Cass County Sheriff Darby McLaren: ‘Such a dog should not be disposed of without legal intervention.’ He believes, based on the photographs, that Bella and Pepper were killed approx. July 27. “At the moment, we’re thinking of this as a random act. I don’t think anyone would go around and shoot stray dogs,” McLaren said to find out who did this to bring justice to his dogs. how devious and barbaric. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case involving two dogs found dead in rural Cumberland on Tuesday.

They were found dead near a bridge on 660 Street, near Tucson Road, the sheriff’s office said.

Officials said the dogs’ hind legs were tied and they were shot in the head.

Bella, a less than 2-year-old Pitbull, and Pepper, a 3-year-old black dog in the lab, have been missing since July 27.

“Bella loves to be cuddled – that’s her biggest thing,” says owner Logan Lank. “Pepper is really good. Obedient. Like a sister to Bella.”

Lank and his girlfriend set up a graveyard for Bella and Pepper.

“All we have are these bricks and we’re trying to carve their names at the moment,” says Lank.

They are desperate to find out what happened to their dogs after they went missing.

“The community has helped a lot. They’re all looking. We have people from everywhere looking for them,” Lank said.

What began as a hopeful search ended in agony on Tuesday.

“They were found with their feet tied, shot in the back of the head, thrown over a bridge,” Lank said.

The bridge was only two miles from Logan’s house.

“You can’t just dispose of a dog like that without the law interfering,” Cass County Sheriff Darby McLaren said.

McLaren says anyone who does this could face animal cruelty charges. Based on the photos, he believes Bella and Pepper were killed around July 27.

“Right now, we’re thinking this is a random act. I don’t think anyone would go around and shoot wild dogs,” McLaren said.

Lank wants to know who did this to bring justice to his dogs.

“I just want them to know how inhuman and barbaric they are. But, I think they should know that doing such a thing,” Lank said.

What gives Lank a sense of calm after losing his dogs is knowing that they were together until the end.

“It brings peace to my heart that they’re not divided. Either way, it’s going to be tough,” Lank said.

Logan said the community raised money as a reward for any information leading up to the arrest.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at 712-243-2206.
