15th seed Princeton continues to advance after crushing Missouri

Princeton’s Cinderella race isn’t over yet. If anything, it seems to be getting stronger.

The 15th seeded Tigers continued Saturday’s unbelievable streak by completely eliminating the 7th seed Missouri Tigers, 78-63, to advance to the Round of 16 Sweet.

That victory came just a day after they made one of the tournament’s most spectacular losses to date, beating second seed Arizona. At least that game is over and over, with Princeton almost clearing the sadness.

This game quickly became a game with Princeton almost leading the game over the wire. Missouri’s only lead came at 17:57 in the first half and was only 3-2. From that point on, it was all Princeton.

The drive for Princeton on Saturday was a stellar performance from the three-point range, taking a 12/33 lead from behind the arc. Ryan Langborg and Blake Peters particularly dominated from that range, combining to win 9-20 on those shots.

Princeton is currently awaiting the winner of Sunday’s Baylor- Creighton game in Sweet 16 next week.

For Princeton, it will be the first trip to the Sweet 16 since 1967.

Prior to this season, Princeton had only won two games at the NCAA tournament since 1982. It has already matched that total in this tournament and has a chance to build on it next week.
